Teledyne e2v has launched a new line of 8k pixel scan cameras suited for industrial applications that require high colour resolution and image sharpness such as print, textile, electronic and PCB inspection. Heavy vehicles to collect slipperiness data for Finland’s road users
EEE Innovations Oy (EEE), the Finnish Transport Agency and Trafi have launched a two-year project in the Northern European state to equip 1000 heavy traffic vehicles including buses and trucks with a data collecting system which will produce real-time road slipperiness data. The trial aims to improve traffic safety for road users, drivers and operators. Jenoptik’s average speed cameras reduce speeding on A90
99 out of every 100 vehicles are now complying with the speed limit along a section of the A90 between Dundee and Stonehaven where Jenoptik’s Average Speed Cameras (ASC) have been installed, according to speed surveys carried out by Transport Scotland. The findings also showed that only 1 in every 5000 vehicles are now speeding at more than 10mph over the limit; a reduction of 1 out of every 5 vehicles that were driving over the limit before the ASC installation. ABB charging technology available in 95% EV countries
ABB has announced that its charging technology is now available in 95% of the world’s countries with an electric vehicle (EV) presence. It has also confirmed that its sales of DC fast chargers have exceeded 6,500 ranging from 50 kW up to 450kW which also includes high-power chargers for both cars and buses. The technology is designed with the intention of supporting global e-mobility charging standards.

Nissan Leaf technology integrated into electric bus trial in Japan
Nissan Leaf’s technology will be integrated into an electric bus project in Japan with the intention of making zero-emission public transit more widespread and affordable. The project is led by Kumamoto University’s involvement with a Japanese Ministry of Environment project which aims to eliminate C02 and other emissions from larger vehicles. Zendrive: lunchtime driving in San Francisco riskier than rush hour
Lunch-hour driving across the San Francisco Bay Area between 11.00am and 2.00pm is riskier than morning and evening rush hour commutes with more than 50% of routes presenting a greater risk to drivers during lunch hour. These latest findings come from Zendrive’s Bay Area Commute Safety Snapshot which also revealed that the San Mateo Bridge is overall more dangerous during morning commutes between 6.00am to 11.00am.
