Seven Valeo challenge finalists announced

Valeo has announced the seven teams selected by its experts to in a challenge to develop a solution to revolutionise the automobile of 2030, with the chance of winning the €100,000 first prize. Four Colombia highway concessions to go ahead

Colombia plans to award the construction of four more highways by November as part of a US$25 billion plan to expand and improve road quality and logistics, President Juan Manuel Santos said. Once the contracts are signed, the government will have wrapped up the concessions to build nine highways, the first leg of its 4G plan to build 8,000km of roads. McCain launches low voltage, low power ATC cabinet

McCain’s low voltage advanced traffic control (ATC) cabinet features high-density components powered by direct current to promote energy efficiency and safety. With inherently reduced voltage of 50 volts, the DC components reduce the risk of accidental shock or electrocution and the effects of short circuiting. The resulting cabinet is safer to operate and maintain, and compliant with the US National Electrical Code’s standards on inadvertent contact with live or arcing parts.

Strabag bags Poland’s A4 motorway contract

A consortium of Strabag and Budimex has signed a US$1.64 million contract to build a 41 kilometre section of the A4 motorway from Rzeszów to Jarosław in south-eastern Poland. Solapur Highway, India gets toll management transmission solution

UK manufacturer of CCTV transmission solutions, AMG, has completed a new toll management transmission solution on the Solapur Highway for transportation company ITNL in India. ITNL is using the solution to monitor two toll plazas with a total of 20 Lanes with 24 booths, four of which have reversible lanes. The project covers a road stretch of 105 kilometres, with 49 kilometres between the toll Plazas. The new system includes 132 cameras of which 126 are fixed cameras and six are pan, tilt zoom cameras.

Major funding announced to improve Bristol’s public transport

A new rapid bus network for Bristol will be built after the UK Department for Transport announced US$55 million funding towards the US$73 million total cost of the project.
