Berg Insight: 3G/4G technologies will dominate cellular M2M communications
According to a new research report from analyst firm Berg Insight, the global cellular machine to machine (M2M) market has entered a period of transition from 2G to 3G/4G technologies. The share of cellular M2M devices connected to HSPA/LTE networks is projected to more than double from less than 20 percent at the end of 2014 to more than 50 per cent by 2018. Royal Imtech results ‘a decisive step’
Royal Imtech has published its second quarter and half year 2014 results, taking what the CEO, Gerard van de Aast says is “a decisive step in Imtech's financial recovery”.
The company has reported significant debt reduction and a fully underwritten rights issue of US$791 million. Revenue in the second quarter was US$1.2 billion, with an EBITDA loss in the same period of US$18.4 million. Order intake in the second quarter was US$1.24 billion.

South Africa to revamp transport infrastructure
South Africa is to invest over US$6.5 billion in the country’s transport infrastructure in a bid to reduce road deaths.
Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said that commuter rail infrastructure, identified as the safest mode of transport, will receive the lion’s share of the allocation as her ministry pushes to shift passengers from cars to into railway stations. To achieve this target, Peters said US$5.1 billion will be spent on commuter rail infrastructure and new rolling stock over the next three years.
Japan to overhaul Cambodia’s traffic signals
Japan’s development organisation, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which has worked hard to alleviate Cambodia’s traffic woes, is to overhaul the capital’s traffic light system in a further bid to reduce the gridlock.
Cambodia’s economy has boomed over the last decade, the broad French-built boulevards and backstreets of Phnom Penh have become bottlenecks, while at peak times, the town centre becomes gridlocked.
Over the next few years, the JICA plans to redesign and rebuild the city
