Many roads now have cycle lanes alongside the slow lane. To improve safety margins for vulnerable riders, the new range of barriers being shown here has an additional, higher, wooden beam atop the barrier to provide extra protection. This extra beam can be added to the company’s products as an option.
Based in Savigneux, south of Lyon, Rondino has been producing safety barriers for 40 years, making use of locally sourced wood that not only provides durability but also an aesthetic appearance for roadsides. Rondino says it was the first company in Europe to create barriers using both wood and steel, with the metal hidden behind the wooden trunks to add discreet extra strength.
The barriers, using Pinus class 4 wood created from local pine, are made from sustainable sources – important in increasingly eco-conscious times.
Rondino has been a significant road barrier provider in France, but now also exports, mainly to Europe, but as far away as New Zealand.
