Euro NCAP, the organisation responsible for evaluating and verifying the safety of new car models, has outlined its 2025 Roadmap for automobile safety. This includes the introduction of child presence detection (CPD) systems as a crucial vehicle safety technology. In both the US and Europe, there is a growing movement to mandate that new vehicles be equipped with CPD systems to protect children from tragic accidents.
Aisin Corporation will use its presence in Dubai to demonstrate its CPD system, which relies on advanced radar technology. This system uses radio waves to detect objects and people with high precision, even if their movement is minimal and difficult to detect.
The CPD system employs a single multifunctional sensor (millimetre wave type) to monitor occupants throughout the vehicle. It can detect infants or children left in the cabin after the vehicle has been stopped and will alert the vehicle’s user to any abnormalities.
Aisin aims to have its CPD system installed in as many vehicles as possible, contributing to the prevention of hot car deaths and ensuring a safer future for children.
