V2X enhances safety and efficiency by enabling real-time road information exchanges between vehicles, infrastructure, and vulnerable road users. It’s also key to level 4+ autonomous driving. However, as technology advances to deliver faster data transmission, lower latency, and improved reliability, long-term deployment challenges arise.

Ettifos, through global collaborations on C-ITS projects, has made it their mission to deliver future-proof V2X solutions that stay current with evolving technology. Their SDM, developed by engineers with over 15 years of experience in communication modems, allows for over-the-air software upgrades. This eliminates the need for hardware replacements as V2X technology evolves.

This innovation enables users of Ettifos’ V2X products, including On-Board and Roadside Units, to seamlessly upgrade from LTE-V2X to 5G-V2X as communication standards change.

“The strength of our SDM is its flexibility,” said Hojun Kim, CEO of Ettifos. “Whether for infrastructure owners, OEMs, or researchers developing global C-ITS, the SDM reduces costs while promoting safer, greener, and more efficient roads.”
