Traffic Data Systems continues to lead

Germany-headquartered Traffic Data Systems continues to push boundaries in traffic monitoring and classification with its latest loop-based systems. Certified by the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) at the highest accuracy level (A1), these systems support loop feed cables of up to 1,050 metres using twisted pair AWG20/0.5mm² cables.

The TMCS-IP 16-channel system, which monitors eight lanes with double loops, is widely used across numerous countries. This system not only performs traffic monitoring and classification but also supports Weigh in Motion (WIM) functionality through Kistler Lineas sensors, adhering to OIML R134 or COST 323 standards.

To enhance its capabilities, the TMCS-IP is complemented by the TDS 824 and TDS 821 systems. The TDS 824 offers eight channels per module, and up to four modules can be combined, enabling parallel monitoring of up to 32 channels (16 lanes with double loops). The TDS 821 handles data processing and communication for these systems, and they are all built to IP67 standards for durability in harsh conditions, featuring rugged connectors like M12 and DSUB.

Sustainability has become a key focus in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) sector, and TDS has long been a leader in this area. The company’s modular TDS 82x/VDK 900 systems, first developed in the 1990s and still widely used across Europe, have been updated with integral 4G/5G modems and BASt certification at the highest accuracy level (A1/300m), ensuring they remain at the forefront of technology.
