Moovit is further rolling out its cross-regional journey planning feature.

Users of the mobility app can now plan and navigate public and shared transportation journeys country-wide, and plan journeys outside of their current region.

Earlier this year, Moovit launched the service in France, Spain and the UK, but has now extended it to the more than 100 countries it covers.

So long as users are travelling in the same country, the app now allows planning of start/end journeys in cities where they are not currently located.

Moovit gives the example of a user in Lisbon, Portugal, who will soon be travelling to another Portuguese city; they can now plan and receive itinerary and guidance information for public transit journeys in, say, Porto.

The app includes real-time arrival information for buses and trains, directions for the entire journey - including alerts telling you when to get off - and service alerts about disruption.

“Since day one, Moovit has been committed to guiding people in getting around town effectively and conveniently using any mode of public and shared transportation,” said Ziv Kabaretti, VP product at Moovit.

“We know from our global experience that making public transit journeys more convenient, frictionless and accessible increases rider satisfaction and ultimately their loyal ridership."
