The International Making Cities Liveable Conference on Healthy, 10-Minute Neighbourhoods which takes place at The Shaw Center in Ottawa, Canada, from 14-18 May 2018 has issued a call for papers.
The conference aims to share achievements and learn from others how to best promote healthy, sustainable, equitable 10-minute neighbourhoods. It will discuss the best neighbourhood models for encouraging walking, biking and public transit, high-density human scale mixed use, places to foster daily social life and community, opportunities for daily contact with nature, and equitable neighbourhood planning.
Paper proposals are invited from elected officials, scholars and practitioners concerned with issues such as:
- Planning 10-minute neighbourhoods
- Transit Oriented Development
- Land-use and transportation planning for new neighbourhoods Re-shaping land use and transit in suburbia Transit elements of 10-minute neighbourhoods

Conference organisers are also seeking submissions for the Design Awards Competition. The 2018 IMCL Design Competition jury will consider all submissions for Designing Healthy 10-Minute Neighbourhoods. Projects that emphasise community, health, sustainability and equity are actively sought and will be given particular consideration.
