378 Cubic Transportation Systems’ (CTS') senior vice president and managing director Tom Walker has been appointed to the advisory board of the Tourism and Transport Forum Australia (TTF). The industry group is a national member-funded CEO collective that advocates the public policy interests of corporations and institutions in transport, tourism and aviation.

Matt Cole, president of CTS, said: “We are delighted that one of our most senior executives with such strong industry credentials has been invited to join the TTF board, further strengthening the long association Cubic has enjoyed with the organization. Under Tom’s leadership Cubic and Transport for New South Wales successfully installed and rolled out Sydney’s Opal card, one of the world’s top smart card ticketing systems, on time and on budget.

“Among his many contributions, Tom also oversees the Cubic team that has brought London-style contactless ticketing to Australia for the first time, with Transport for New South Wales ’s successful trial conducted on the Manly ferry fleet,” added Cole.

Margy Osmond, chief executive officer for TTF, said: “Tom brings more than 30 years of experience working in transportation on three continents and we look forward to his contribution and insights, particularly into the new technologies that Cubic is developing and implementing around the globe. His expertise in advanced ticketing and transport technology, tolling and traffic management is well recognized and respected within the industry.”
