Cutting the cake: McCain’s Trisha Reddan, Jeffrey L McCain and Nathan Welch
It was 25 years ago, when a gallon of gas cost only $1.09, that Jeffrey L 772 McCain founded the leading supplier of traffic equipment, intelligent transportation solutions and parking guidance that bears his name. So there’s cause for celebration at the McCain booth at this year’s ITS America Annual Meeting and a great big birthday cake cutting ceremony which delegates are were invited to attend yesterday afternoon.

And the prospect of a delicious piece of 25th birthday cake is not the only reason to stop by: McCain has brought an arsenal of innovative product demonstrations to the event.

It’s no exaggeration to say that in establishing his company in 1987, Jeffrey L McCain was also setting in motion one of the outstanding success stories in this industry. And the bare facts confirm this: more than 5.6 million traffic signals, 75,000 traffic cabinets, and 58,000 traffic signal controllers deployed across the globe.

“The condition of the world’s transportation infrastructure and the industry that drives it has advanced considerably over the past quarter century,” says McCain. “We’ve been able to grow and develop with the industry, working to create and establish advanced solutions that offer a better on-road experience.”

However, it’s not just about equipment and systems with McCain, although delegates will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the company’s ATC-compliant controllers, standards compliant-ITS, NEMA, and Caltrans cabinets, and NTCIP-compliant software. Jeffrey L McCain points to the severe financial restrictions that agencies face in the current situation. “The harsh reality is that agencies are having to do a lot more with a lot less resources,” McCain says. “So we have responded with our customised migration programme which helps agencies migrate to modern, feature-rich, traffic management systems in an incremental and affordable way.”
