1768 Orange County Transportation Authority's (OCTA's) mobile ticketing solution is now available on its bus fleet systemwide to help make boarding easier. It has also made a series of changes to existing routes with the intention of providing a more efficient service.

Riders can now purchase fares via the OC Buss app on their smartphone or other mobile devices, enabling them to call up for a Quick Response code and scan it on the onboard reader. The application is available for iPhone and Android devices.

OCTA has changed seven routes as part of an ongoing effort to increase ridership, which it claimed has increased by 20% in the last two years. The project aims to improve productivity by relocating buses to areas where the demand is highest.

Weekday frequencies have increased during peak hours with buses said to arrive every 30 minutes on Routes 56, 89, 90 and 91 as well as an improved weekday evening service on Routes 29, 50, 53 and 60. In addition, more buses are available for weekend evenings on Route 46 and at weekends on Route 59. Minor adjustments also are being made to 33 other bus routes.

Routes 212, 216 and 454 have been removed following low ridership, along with the Sunday service Route 177.
