The German motorist organisation Automobil Kraftfaher-Schutz (KS) has awarded Scania its Energy and Environmental Prize for 2012 for its intelligent cruise control system, Scania Active Prediction. The system uses GPS in order to determine the vehicle's position and to predict the topography of the road ahead.

ParkMe, a provider of dynamic and real-time parking data, and Parkeon, a specialist in multi-space parking solutions, have completed an integration which will enable the companies to provide free parking solutions to residents of major US cities.

Pennsylvania's 511PA system, which provides free travel information including construction alerts and real-time traffic cameras, reached a milestone in June of two million total website visits, PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch has announced. The 511PA telephone system has received more than 1 million calls and more than 15,000 people have signed up for personalised text or email alerts.

CarCharging Group has received funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to supply, deploy and install EV charging stations throughout New York City. New findings from ABI Research predict that global OEM connected car system penetration will increase from 11.4 per cent in 2012 to 60.1 per cent in 2017. Citilog is deploying XCam-td video sensors at Topaz, which has over 300 service stations throughout Ireland, in order to gather traffic data at the entrance and at multiple locations on roads leading to a service station. Telvent GIT has announced that it is working together with the Chinese cities of Nanning, Fushun and Erdos to implement its SmartMobility technology aimed at intelligent urban and mobility management to enable local authorities to make the most of their road infrastructures. These cities are expected to lower the current number of traffic delays by over 35 per cent and the inner-city commute rate is anticipated to drop by around 15 per cent.

Wabtec Corporation has signed contracts worth about US$25 million to provide components, including on-board positive train control (PTC) equipment, for 50 new transit cars being built by Hyundai-Rotem. The cars will be used on new commuter rail lines being built by Denver Transit Partners in Colorado. Several Wabtec units will provide the equipment for the cars: Wabtec Passenger Transit (brakes and couplers), Wabtec Railway Electronics (PTC equipment), Bach-Simpson (event recorders) and Vapor Stone (doors)
