The US state of Michigan has formally launched its Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) to develop new transportation technologies.

RoadBotics has been chosen to use their machine-learning technology to assess the city of Detroit’s entire 4,185km road network. The company will work with PlanetM, a Michigan state networking partnership of mobility organisations, educational institutions, research and development groups and government agencies working together in the automotive sector. Derq has launched two vehicle to everything (V2X) applications in downtown Detroit to predict and prevent traffic crashes. The technology company collaborated with Flir Systems to communicate threats in real-time to drivers at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Randolph Street intersection. Dubai-based software company Derq is the first recipient of a grant under a new $1 million programme from Michigan state’s technology innovation facilitator PlanetM.
