Installations in California will detect transit signal priority calls on four corridors

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is showing conference attendees how its Smart Stop technology can tell bus drivers that someone is waiting at a particular stop, improving the rider experience while saving fuel costs. By awarding Siemens Rail Systems a contract to modify and refurbish 21 light rail vehicles (LRV), Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) says it will add to its fleet at a fraction of the cost of new vehicles.
