It was Intertraffic that got Sweden’s Triplesign – makers of three-faceted variable signs – on the road to business success, so it is no surprise that the firm is back this year.

According to Swedish company Triplesign, its new range of variable message signs (VMS), developed for lane closure operations has a number of benefits over traditional LED VMS. Visually, the sign is like a normal static traffic sign, but appearances can be deceptive. There are actually several signs built into each unit, one for each traffic lane on a multi-lane road. Each lane can be independently operated by the traffic management system.

A segregated, mechanical three-position variable message sign able to display lane closures and other instructions is making its debut on the Triplesign stand. An electric motor turns the vertical triangular elements in the sign to display the required message and in the latest incarnation a set of three vertical elements depicts each lane of the road and can be individually controlled to indicate which lanes are open or closed.
