Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) maintains and operates the roadway with TransCore providing maintenance services. This has included the replacement of 88 existing microwave vehicle detection system (MVDS) units with RTMS Echo.
The data from these 88 radar sensors are reported into the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) SunGuide software.
The RTMS Echo provides access to more actionable traffic data and is used for incident detection and incident management on the parkway.
“We are pleased with the use of the RTMS Echo unit,” said Jonathan Tursky, VP and North Florida operations manager at TransCore.
“The quality of the data from the sensor was tested to be highly accurate and can be formatted to fit the needs of FDOT. Along with the ease of use, the wireless auto-configuration of the sensor makes installation easy and fast.”
The RTMS Echo radar is a powerful IoT-ready device that provides industry-leading per-vehicle data accuracy that can be easily formatted to deliver needed insights to meet transportation agencies’ performance objectives.
