Indeed, TTS will feel right at home at the event in Los Angeles, since Audi has brought its Traffic Light Information (TLI) system, powered by TTS, to several agencies in the Los Angeles metro.
Audi launched TLI in 2016, with service throughout southern Nevada. Six years later, TTS has expanded service to more than 50,000 intersections in North America, Europe, and China. TLI is standard on all Audi vehicles and also included in other Volkswagen Group brands. Audi’s TLI allows drivers to be more confident, providing green light recommended speed advisories that can provide a recommended speed up to the limit to help the driver ride a “green wave.” Both an Audi Travolution report and a US Department of Transportation AERIS Research Program Report found that minimising stop-and-go driving can lead to more than 15 per cent greater fuel-efficiency when drivers are able to respond to predicted traffic signal changes. That’s substantial, given in-vehicle technologies and lightweight materials in vehicles contributing toward efficiency can often have larger cost implications toward next-generation vehicle development compared with tools that help make small adjustments to driving behaviours.
And it’s not the only major car manufacturer to use the TTS system. Ford China launched its Ford V2I LITE applications earlier this year and Mercedes-Benz launched its version of TLI in the US last year, both powered by TTS technology. TTS will showcase its latest connected vehicle product developments such as virtual detection, real-time residual queue estimation, and intersection intelligence reports.
