Sensys Gatso Group has received an order from its partner KTC International for red light enforcement systems to be deployed in Qatar. The order, valued at US$616,000 (SEK 5 million) is for systems similar to those supplied in 2015 and is subject to a letter of credit. Spanish technology company Indra has is to deploy its contactless ticketing technology at 14 new stations on the Delhi and Noida Metro system. Preliminary estimates from the National Safety Council indicate motor vehicle deaths in the first six months of 2017 are one per cent lower than they were during the same six-month period in 2016. The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) has applauded the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for the release of recommendations aimed at reducing speed and speeding-related deaths and injuries on US roads. DB Regio in Germany has ordered 57 three-car Mireo train sets from Siemens, the company’s new regional and commuter train platform. Transport for London has announced plans to test new safety technology on London buses. Automatic braking and audible warning systems will be trialled alongside measures including new mirrors to improve the driver’s vision. All the new technology will receive a completely independent trial at the Transport Research Laboratory, whose engineers and technical specialists have been appointed to work with TfL, bus manufacturers and operators to trial a range of innovative safety measures.

Australia-based Aldridge Traffic Controllers (ATC) is to install its ATSC4 VC6 traffic signal controller in Dublin, Ireland, for the Luas Cross City Light Rail project. The new light rail system for Dublin City is the next phase of Dublin’s integrated light rail network and will pass through 25 SCATS-controlled junctions and 10 pedestrian crossings. It is the extension of the Luas Green line creating an interchange with the red line. There will be 13 new stops with 8 of these in the core city centre area.

New York Governor. Andrew M. Cuomo, who once doubted that congestion pricing would gain any traction in the state, is planning to resurrect the idea and will expend political capital to see it succeed, reports the New York Times.
