New figures obtained by BBC Radio Live from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) indicate that that the number of drivers caught driving while banned has increased by 7.5 per cent. The figures show that some 14,500 people were caught driving without a licence in 2016. One example included a motorist who was caught driving while banned four times in 12 months. Following this week’s announcement of a settlement with the City of Chicago, Redflex Traffic Systems (RTSI) says it has resolved all criminal and civil matters in the US arising out of the Company's 2013 investigation into allegations of corruption by former executives. The company has agreed to pay the City of Chicago US$20 million, with $10 million payable by the end of 2017 and the balance to be paid in various annual instalments by the end of 2023, unless extended by the terms of the agreement.

Volvo Buses has received an order for eight Volvo 7900 electric buses, from Transdev Blazefield for operation by the Harrogate Bus Company, UK. The vehicles will enter service in 2018 and will utilise 'opportunity charging' via the common interface OppCharge, which enables charging stations to also be used by electric buses from other vehicle manufacturers. Opportunity charging uses a specialist overhead mast, which connects to the bus via a pantograph. Charging is fully automated and takes between th
