International engineering firm Parsons Corp has unveiled its proposed US$3.5 billion project to ease traffic on Interstate 70 through the central mountains in Eagle County, Colorado. Parsons had submitted an unsolicited proposal to Colorado Department of Transportation in 2011. In Canada a new private toll bridge that links Montreal with Laval is now open to traffic. The bridge was opened two months ahead of schedule and features a sophisticated electronic tolling system. Bridge users mount transponders to their vehicles to pay for each crossing.

Granite Construction has announced that the Houston Rapid Transit Joint Venture team (HRT) has received full notice to proceed on the US$1.2 billion contract to expand the existing light rail transit system in Houston, Texas. The design/build contract was awarded to HRT in 2009 by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas.
