Rotapanel expands range with LED option
The big news at Rotapanel is not a rotating panel, it is its new variable message LED matrix sign. According to Hendry Born, product engineer with Rotapanel, authorities are increasingly specifying a combination of signs and want a one-stop supplier. However, he said the rotating signs’ benefits remain – most notably easily recognisable signage for drivers, ‘stand-alone’ ability with battery power and solar recharging and low whole life costs.

Signal Group launches C5000 intersection control system
Signal Group is launching a new traffic control product, called the C5000 intersection control system, here at Intertraffic. The company says it has taken its proven US technology from the ATC line of traffic controllers and SG line of safety monitors and created an all-in-one unit.
The new unit, along with its paired power distribution assembly, can deliver world-class traffic control in an integrated card-rack based form factor. This initial launch configuration will drive up to 32 individual signal sets
Optex to exhibit Viik vehicle detectors
Optex will showcase two above ground ViiK vehicle detectors currently deployed in Europe, Middle East and Africa at Intertraffic. The solutions are said to be ideal for sites where ground loops cannot be installed, such as where the road surface is damaged, unsealed, paved with cobblestones or above drains or pipes.
The OVS-01GT is said to be designed for gate, barrier or industrial door activation and combines microwave with ultrasonic technology to sense a vehicle’s movement and presence. It is suited f
Icoms offers low-cost intersection detection
Intertraffic visitors are the first to see a new radar detector from Icoms Detection – the Belgian subsidiary of IRD. The pole-mounted unit, knows as the TMA-13X, has a range of 80 metres, identifies up to 32 vehicles (targets) across three or four lanes of oncoming traffic and can monitor the route vehicles follow through an intersection. According to the company, one TMA-13X unit can replace multiple loops (approach and stop line) without any roadworks and it functions regardless of light conditions
ParkNow and BMW solution takes Intertraffic 2018 Innovation Award
A smart parking solution which directs city drivers to the likeliest available spaces based on historical and real-time traffic flow data has won the overall prize at the Intertraffic 2018 Innovation Awards.
The On-Street Parking Information (OSPI) feature in BMW cars, coupled with an in-dash payments system from ParkNow, guides drivers to the area in which they should have the best chance of parking and then allows them to pay for it.
Redflex automates traffic offences with Alcyon
Redflex is highlighting its innovative solution for processing and managing photo enforcement incidents. This can be a costly, complex and time-consuming task for an organisation, particularly so as camera networks proliferate and volumes of data increase. Numerous touch points and variables in the infringement life cycle add to the challenge. “We saw that enforcement agencies were looking for a unified platform that could help them streamline the way they handled incidents, while also

Bollards bounce back with Saedi’s Augustaflex
Reducing the cost of replacing damaged or demolished traffic signs is the aim of Saedi’s Augustaflex technology, which is on show here.
Even relatively minor impacts can damage street traffic signs or bollards to the point where they have to be replaced, at considerable cost to local authorities. And those signs that do not have to be replaced but sustain damage can spoil a streetscape.
