Cubic Transportation Systems is to integrate On Track Innovations’ (oti) Wave near field communication (NFC) device into its NextWave mobile mass transit platform, adding NFC capability to virtually any smartphone or tablet through the audio jack. Deutsche Telekom is within months of moving into full-scale operation of its new-generation contactless payment kiosks as it tests the technology with initial users. Pilot schemes are already underway for two versions of its MyWallet Kiosk system, Compact and Flexible. Compact processes any card, including those with PIN entry, while Flexible is optimised for payment schemes with contactless or EMV chip and no PIN entry.

London's commuters will be able to use their mobile phones and bank cards for travel across the city, if Transport for London's (TfL) plans come to fruition. Bus passengers in London can now use their use their contactless debit, credit or charge card to touch in on the yellow Oyster card readers and pay the single Oyster fare on any of London's 8,500 buses.
