Efkon is presenting a DSRC on-board unit which integrates ‘seamlessly and elegantly’ into the vehicle rather than being mounted behind the windshield. As well as a display it has a slot for contactless payment cards (NFC). As drivers go through a toll station, the due amount is debited and displayed and an acoustic signal informs the driver.
Meanwhile, Strabag is presenting a new health & safety system, which is already being used by Arge U2 and Strabag, Inc for the extension of the underground railway network in Vienna and Toronto. It covers various applications such as positioning and access control.
In case of accident or fire, the company’s tunnel radio system – currently used in Austria’s Tauern and Plabutsch tunnels and in two tunnels on Israel’s Road 16 - provides constant, interference-free, life-and-death communication between emergency teams and the external mission control centre.
