RoadBotics’ RoadWay solution uses images collected via smartphone to automatically assess road conditions. The images are analysed by the company’s proprietary AI algorithm to generate truly objective road ratings on an interactive, colour-coded map. The insights include a rating, including time and location data for each 10-foot section of road.
Agencies can then better prioritise road repair and maintenance and allocate resources appropriately based on data-driven insights rather than subjective human assessments.
Another solution from RoadBotics, AgileMapper, uses machine learning (ML) to identify, tag and organise an agency’s infrastructure assets, providing a baseline of reference for inventory and on-going maintenance.
Roadway joins Michelin DDi, a division of the company that uses data to bring intelligence to driving.
Michelin DDi’s Safer Roads services help transportation agencies reduce the number of collisions and fatalities on the road by providing better driving behaviour data analysis to detect, locate and assess near misses.
Using data from more than 40 million US connected drivers, the Near Miss suite locates and counts atypical driving events, assesses and ranks near miss hotspots and calculates the probability of a crash.
This allows agencies to better understand where and when safety issues may arise and take action to fix infrastructure issues before crashes and casualties occur.
