New technology emerging from the ACT could drastically reduce the amount of time that drivers in Manuka, Canberra spend looking for parking spaces. Australia’s ACT Government, in partnership with parking technology firm Smart Parking, has launched a 12 month trial of SmartPark, the real-time bay sensor parking solution, in the Canberra suburb of Manuka.

UK city Canterbury is to introduce Parkeon mobile and white-label website payment options alongside its ParkREG automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. It has introduced the Parkeon Whoosh! app alongside ParkREG with barriers technology, rolling out the combination at four car parks in the city. The technology provides visitors with a cashless and ticketless convenient way to pay for parking via app, IVR and text. In addition, the council has unveiled a new ticketless parking website.

Amsterdam had taken the final step in digitising parking and parking enforcement and the move is paying dividends. According to Sveriges Radio, the charging stations on Norway’s Green Highway between Sundsvall and Storlien charged over 20,000 cars in 2015. Most of the charges were made in Åretrakten, in central Sundsvall and in the area of trade Birsta.
