PTV MapServer 5.4

The new release of PTV MapServer, based on COM, provides updated maps with toll tables and environmental zones which are taken into account during the routing process. The tool also includes new features for routing and logistical optimisation methods and allows users to easily embed digital maps, route calculation or other geo-functionalities.

Peek controller approved by ODoT

Peek Traffic Corporation’s ATC-1000 traffic controller has been approved for use on Oklahoma State Highway projects by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The device features the company’s latest ATC engine board, a full line of communication options including multiple serial ports, multiple Ethernet ports, a USB firmware and memory port, and a range of I/O and D modules. It uses uses NTCIP communications natively and is entirely compatible with Peek’s IQ Central traffic management system.

Qualcomm and Renault have announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for their intended cooperation on the London trial of Qualcomm Halo Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) technology, and their intent with respect to conducting preliminary studies of the integration of this technology into Renault vehicles.

TagMaster wins order from Bombardier for São Paulo Line 5 Project

Sweden-headquartered TagMaster has received an order from Bombardier Transportation to provide its advanced RFID solution for a project to upgrade and extend the signalling on Line 5 on the São Paulo Metro in Brazil. Bombardier has placed an initial order for Heavy-duty (HD) readers and ID-tags which will be delivered over a 12 month period beginning in August 2012. Additional orders for TagMaster’s Heavy-duty ID-Tags and system spare parts for the project are anticipated during 2013.

Continental and SK Innovation team up on battery technology

South Korean company SK Innovation and international automotive supplier Continental, have signed an agreement founding a jointly managed company to develop and supply battery technology for the automotive industry. The know-how of both firms will be concentrated in this new company with the goal of mutually developing, producing and globally marketing lithium-ion battery systems for cars.
