Wabtec to manufacture brake equipment for GATX Rail Europe

Wabtec Corporation has signed a contract to manufacture brake equipment for freight cars to be purchased by GATX Rail Europe, a leading European rail equipment lessor. Under the contract, which is expected to last several years and has a value of about US$18 million, Wabtec will provide various models of brake systems which will be manufactured by Wabtec units in Europe.

KFDTS rolling out GreenRoad across entire fleet

GreenRoad, a specialist in driver performance and safety management, has announced that the company’s technology is being deployed across Kerry Foods Direct to Store (KFDTS) UK fleet of 330 vehicles driven by 450 drivers across 26 sales centres. New vehicle and bicycle detection technology

At this year’s IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Conference, currently being staged in Orlando, Florida, traffic video specialist Traficon is presenting new traffic detection products that are aimed at the US intersection market. A first innovation is Traficon’s VIP-Bike detection board, which aims at improving safety and efficiency for bicyclists at signalised intersections. A second innovation is the TrafiRadar vehicle presence sensor, which combines a video sensor and a radar detector.

Russia estimates earnings of US$12.77 billion from truck tolls

According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, the budget's net discounted income from the new heavy truck federal road passage fee will amount to US$12.77 billion per year. As reported here last month, the Ministry has prepared a government draft decree that will require all commercial vehicles over 12 tons to pay a toll for each kilometre driven on federal roads. TrafficFlow Manager helps congestion

Information Display Company, a developer and manufacturer of radar speed sign technology, has launched TrafficFlow Manager, a driver alert display which works with traffic signal timing to alleviate traffic congestion. When mounted along a route with timed traffic signals, the display informs drivers that the lights are synchronised and lets them know the proper speed to maintain in order to avoid having to stop for a red light.
