Uninterruptible power systems (UPS) specialist Clary reports strong sales since introduction of its SP1250LX product at the 2011 ITS World Congress in Orlando. The new equipment features a number of innovations introduced to complement previous models in Clary’s range of UPS units. Aldis has reduced the size of its GridSmart CPU in order to make it a better fit for traffic cabinets worldwide. The company has also released version 3.2 of the software which supports its video detection solution. Advanced tracking algorithms are combined with an enhanced, more user-friendly graphical user interface which features fully actuated intersection detection, traffic data collection, and a mini-TMC capability which uses digital pan/tilt/zoom capability for intersection surveillance.

Global Traffic Technologies’ new in-vehicle Opticom GPS system is said to allow integration with other on-board systems due to its many interface options. EarthCam can claim to have the most commanding exhibit at National Harbor this week. The company’s booth features a telescopic platform extending to up to 15m in height. The platform provides an elevated mounting for EarthCam’s advanced solar powered webcam technology. Team Vaisala has arrived at National Harbor with its Ford F150 XLT pick-up truck at the end of an 18,350 mile trip across America demonstrating the company’s mobile monitoring technology. The technology is claimed to have completely eliminated uncertainty or guesswork over whether signal control detection equipment is working properly. Cloud Connect provides data in real-time, so there is no reason to have broken inductive loops at intersections.

In an effort to break stagnation in the DSRC market, Arada Systems has developed a DSRC radio that can plug into any device with a USB port. The idea is that USB will help proliferate DSRC and drive down pricing, leading to a wave of new applications and innovation.

Redflex Traffic Systems in the US has announced its latest innovation, Student Guardian, designed to curb dangerous driving behaviours, and enforce traffic laws on school bus routes.
