A mission to Hong Kong and Shenzhen in China marks the start of a series of export visits planned within ITS Canada’s new International Business Development (IBD) strategy, the only one open to all members, including SMEs, across the country’s transportation industry.

The Intelligent Transportation Systems Society of Canada (ITS Canada) has recognised Peek Traffic’s new Marlin (multi-agent reinforcement learning integrated network) adaptive control software with its New Canadian Commercial Industry/Academic ITS Technology/Innovation/R&D Award. ITS Canada, the national organisation representing Canada’s ITS industry, was awarded the host country for the 2017 ITS World Congress, in partnership with ITS America. This 24th ITS World Congress will be held in Montreal, Quebec, one of Canada’s most beautiful cities and a strong advocate for integrated mobility in transportation.

ITS Netherlands and ITS Canada signed an MoU at the show yesterday, aiming to learn from each other’s experiences in the sector. “Our relationship goes way back,” said the organisation’s president, Michael de Santis, “but we thought it was an opportune time here at Intertraffic to formalise this.”

Canada has been selected to host the 2017 ITS World Congress. Three Canadian and nine American cities vied to host the conference and after lengthy deliberation the International Committee settled on Montreal. The last World Congress in Canada was in Toronto in 1999 which attracted over 5,000 delegates. ITS Canada says the Montreal Congress will be even bigger and is promising it will be a year the world of transportation will remember!
