Fusus has launched a unified video solution for smart cities which it says combines private and public video sources into a single platform called FususOne.
Fusus detects, analyses and connects to every camera on a building’s network and sends a unified video feed to a single web interface, the company adds.

Cohda Wireless has launched a hardware solution MK6C Evaluation Kit with the aim of accelerating the commercial introduction of cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) technology.
Cohda says MK6C features the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X Platform and offers compatible software to support Vehicle to Vehicle, Vehicle to Infrastructure and Vehicle to Pedestrian applications.

Lyft to offer AV service for blind riders
Lyft has joined forces with Aptiv and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) to bring self-driving technology to its blind and low-vision riders in Las Vegas.
The deal extends an agreement last year, in which Aptiv launched 30 autonomous vehicles (AVs) to pick up riders using Lyft’s app.

ADB approves grant for BRT in Karachi
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $235 million loan to help develop a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Karachi, Pakistan.
The project will deliver the 26km Bus Rapid Transit Line Red Line Corridor and associated facilities. More than 300,000 passengers per day are expected on the Red Line BRT routes.

TRC to open C/AV testing facility in Ohio
The Transportation Research Center (TRC), an automotive proving ground in North America, has opened a connected and autonomous vehicle (C/AV) testing facility in Ohio.
The $45 million site, called SmartCenter, is to test advanced automotive and mobility technologies in a repeatable real-world environment before vehicles are deployed on public highways.

Autotalks and Datang have tested chipset-level interoperability of their solutions for Cooperative Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) direct communications in Beijing, China.
Autotalks says the test enabled both companies to validate their solutions and determine that they work together properly.

DfT to review UK traffic enforcement
The Department for Transport (DfT) in the UK is to carry out a review into road policing and traffic enforcement in a bid to improve highway safety.
The two-year review - jointly funded by the DfT and Highways England - will look at how road policing currently works, its effectiveness and areas for improvement.

London police get StarTraq traffic enforcement
StarTraq is to provide its browser-based traffic enforcement solution - called Dome - to the London Metropolitan Police Service (Met).
StarTraq says the solution will enable the Met traffic prosecutions team to increase the number of offences being processed without any increase in the current team size.

Indra is to integrate the management of Transurban Queensland’s road assets in the Australian state into a single control centre.

Bike Share Toronto expands service
Bike Share Toronto is to add 1,250 bicycles, 105 stations and 2,292 docking stations to its network and will expand into new neighborhoods in the Canadian city.
The deployment follows a commitment by the city’s mayor John Tory and the Toronto Parking Authority to extend bike-sharing services in the region.

AV drivers need help for safe handovers, says RAC
Drivers will need help preparing for unexpected situations where their autonomous vehicle (AV) hands back control, warns the RAC Foundation.
RAC carried out a study in the UK with the Human Factors Research Group at the University of Nottingham on 49 people of varying ages using a driving simulator on a ‘commute-style’ journey for five days in a row.
During the trial, the drivers demonstrated significant lateral movement (lane swerving) when control was handed back to them, even after being provided

WSP USA has appointed Virginia Lingham as a consultant for its ITS and connected and autonomous vehicle (C/AV) divisions.
She will focus on key projects in ITS and C/AV deployment in California as well as efforts across the US.
Lingham was previously C/AV programme manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation (DoT), where she served as chair of the Connected Vehicle Pooled Fund Study - a coalition of 27 state DoTs which collaborate on C/AV projects.

Toyota unveils online map for traffic in Japan
Toyota has released an online map which provides information on road closures and natural disasters in Japan.
The company says users can check data from the past hour to 24 hours and carry out searches on areas of heavy traffic.
The real-time data is based on the T-Connect/G-Book telematics service information from communications systems in Toyota’s vehicles, and the map is accessible from a smartphone, computer or other devices.

Autonomous vehicle (AV) developers seem to targeting ‘closed’ communities such as retirement complexes or universities and Via is also joining this trend.
The company has launched a free AV service called BusBot for a retirement community in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

Transdev is trialling two EasyMile autonomous shuttles in daily traffic conditions in Montreal, Canada, until 4 August.
