ABB delivers 20 EV chargers to Egypt
4540 ABB is supplying 20 DC fast chargers across Egypt which it says can recharge electric vehicles (EVs) in 15 minutes.
The company says the deployment supports Egypt’s plans to reduce air pollution by 50% by 2023.
The Terra 53 DC fast chargers are being installed at National Petroleum Company gas stations across the country’s road network, car dealerships and busy urban areas.
Each charger comes with ABB Ability connected services, which continuously collects data to remotely monitor and control the operation of the chargers.

Man convicted of driverless car terror plot in UK
A man has been found guilty in a UK court of plotting to use a driverless car for terrorism.
Farhad Salah was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court after prosecutors argued that he was planning to put an explosive device in a vehicle which could then be controlled remotely.
He will be sentenced on 24 July after the jury found him guilty by a majority of 10 to two.
His co-defendant Andy Star was found not guilty of the same offence at the trial.

NeoRide, a consortium of seven Ohio transit agencies and Masabi, is to launch a cashless mobile ticketing and fare payment app called EZfare.

Grab has added a new option to its GrabShare on-demand carpooling service in Singapore which it says provides passengers with better-matched rides.

StreetLight Data has expanded its Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) metrics to Canada to assist transportation planners and engineers in analysing infrastructure projects and estimating road safety.
StreetLight Data says AADT provides on-demand traffic volumes for over 4.5 million miles of Canadian and US roadways.
The StreetLight Insight platform will allow users to obtain accurate AADT counts for nearly every Canadian and US road in minutes, the company adds.

NEVS and AutoX deploy robo-taxi service in Europe
NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden) is working with AutoX to deploy large-scale robo-taxi pilots in Europe by the end of 2020.
AutoX is to integrate its autonomous drive technology into a vehicle being developed by NEVS in the city of Trollhättan, Sweden.
Jianxiong Xiao, founder of AutoX, says the company will create an artificial intelligence driver “tailored to the specific geolocation it is in; adopting local driving styles, while also navigating in urban and dynamic conditions”.

Q-Free is to deploy its Intrada Insight Server (ISS) solution to an unnamed tolling operator in Florida in a deal valued at £2.3m.
The company says the solution uses advanced image-based transaction and automation processing technology to achieve a transaction accuracy of more than 99%.
ISS also uses advanced vehicle fingerprinting and grouping analytical techniques to achieve improved accuracy, the company adds.

PTV has partnered with Tatweer to set up a system that it says will allow the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to manage car dispatches to respond to emergencies.
Dr. Atef M Garib, CEO, Tatweer, a professional services company, says the role of the dispatcher is to direct emergency response cars to help people who have called the centre for help.

Didi Chuxing has joined forces with China Southern Power Grid (CSPG) to develop on-demand electric vehicle (EV) charging and automobile services across South and Southwest China.
Didi, a ride-hailing firm, says the deal will allow its app users to access CSPG charging spots.

Volkswagen has launched an electric ‘free-floating’ car-share service called WeShare in Berlin.
The fleet comprises 1,500 e-Golfs, and they are to be followed by 500 additional e-up!vehicles in the German capital at the beginning of next year.

AMG Systems has launched Mini media converters which it says are designed to protect transport cameras from extreme temperatures.
