The trend for wearable technology has reached the world of parking with the latest device being shown by Dutch company Parkmobile. It is using Intertraffic as the debut for its new system, which it hopes will bring a new level of convenience to motorists.

Product enhancement and new launches feature on the SVS-Vistek stand. The company’s Tracer series of cameras now features better heat management a customer-requested improvements to casings’ screw fixings. But alongside improvements sits something wholly new – the SVCam-evo 12040. This is a CMOS-based camera, available in 12MP versions, which offers capabilities – high blooming suppression, low image lag and dynamic range – which matches those of CCD-based rivals, said the company’s Roland Maier.

As Intertraffic opened Skidata and Stentofon announced a partnership which is set to deliver enhanced communications for the parking sector. The partnership will see Stentofon’s Pulse framework audio communication systems used in Skidata’s parking devices for bidirectional communication between car park operators and their customers. This enables Skidata to provide hardware-free and server-less VoIP-intercom communication as an integrated part of its widely spread parking solutions.

The name covers travel, information and payment and enables you to use the phone for on- and off-street parking payment, or to order taxis or get information about public transport. German motorcycle manufacturer BMW is offering bikes built to meet the needs of emergency services. Meanwhile, Dutch firm HSC Nieuw-Vennup can further fine tune the BMW machines to meet specific customer requirements. The new BMW electric scooter now meets German usage regulations and will be available across Europe. This vehicle is well-suited to the needs of urban traffic control duties, offering a range of 100km, a top speed of 120km/h and 0-50km/h acceleration in 2.7 seconds thanks to its 35kW motor.

Visitors to Intertraffic will be the first to see the new Marwis mobile contactless weather information sensor from German company Lufft. Marwis can be mounted on any vehicle and provides mobile collection of road weather information including surface temperature, dew point and water film height as well as road conditions (humidity, snow, ice and frost), grip (friction) and other environmental data.

Trinity Highway Systems has improved its CASS cable barrier technology to upgrade its vehicle redirective performance. The CASS system suits applications in highway median installations to prevent crossover crashes. A key feature is the post design with its novel wave-shaped slot, which the firm says combines with the cable position to maximise vehicle restraint performance. Scottish firm Findlay Irvine has developed a sophisticated new microgrip testing system. This is a walk-behind surface friction measurement unit that shares many operating capabilities with the firm’s proven towed unit. Business development manager Campbell Waddell explained: “It works on the same principle as the towed machine. We developed it as we kept getting asked to use the trailer based unit for jobs it wasn’t suited to, like pedestrian areas and cycleways.”
